1. Explain community-policing. List the benefits and disadvantages of community policing. Detail the 2 most points that are important police agencies in utilizing this perspective.

Community Policing brings police and citizens together to avoid crime and solve neighborhood problems. The emphasis is on stopping crime before it happens, not responding to calls for service after the crime occurs with community policing. Community policing gives citizens more control over the standard of living inside their community. Community policing means police become part of the neighborhood. 5 Ways to Teach Letters when you look at the Preschool Writing Center

5 Ways to Teach Letters when you look at the Preschool Writing Center

Learning the alphabet is such a step that is big preschoolers, as is learning to write letters. It doesn’t come easily or naturally to all or any children, which is why I’m sharing five fun how to teach letters at your preschool center that is writing.

I have to be truthful here. I think that writing worksheets have a place in preschool, but typically not at the writing center. I’ll leave out a set of letter formation worksheets, however they are used infrequently, which is ok. There are so many different ways to instruct writing to preschoolers without traditional tracing!

You notice, a preschool center that is writingn’t just for learning letter formation. It’s also about using writing to communicate.

The purpose of a writing center is to:

  • Communicate ideas written down via drawings and letters
  • Associate print with meaning
  • Develop motor that is fine utilizing the various materials
  • Practice left to right progression in reading and writing
  • Develop eye-hand coordination
  • Learn how to form letters

The thing is lots of the learning that occurs at a writing center is about emergent reading because reading and writing are incredibly interlaced.

5 Ways to Teach Letters at the Writing Center

Since reading and writing are so intertwined, it is only natural to include a bit that is little of in your writing center along with your literacy center.

Include a lot of letter tracing options

Many preschoolers are not drawn to letters that are tracing. (I love to use my fine motor journals to encourage the pincer grasp) unless they already have a mature pencil grasp, but until then. But, preschoolers can be enticed with a few fun tools that are tracing!

These are three of your less-traditional favorites:

Include lots of alphabet toys that encourage fine motor skills

During the center that is writing not everything has to be about holding a writing utensil. In reality, your preschooler will resist tracing until they usually have fairly developed fine motor skills. (they are going to still be interested in scribbling and drawing, during this period, just not so interest that is much tracing).
